St Ives

The colourful seaside town of St. Ives is widely recognised as one of the premier destinations in the South West. Its history is firmly rooted in its past as Cornwall 's busiest pilchard fishing port. The quaint maze of streets and buildings wind down to the small fishing harbour and two superb beaches.

St Ives is home to a renowned artistic community with its historic links with Barbara Hepworth, Turner, Ben Nicholson, Bernard Leach to name but a few. Points of interest for art lovers include the Tate Gallery, the Barbara Hepworth Workshop and Gallery, the Sloop Craft Market and a variety of smaller artist's studios. Of the surrounding beaches and coves the breathtaking Porthmeor beach is favoured by surfers whilst the more sheltered Porthminster Beach is popular with families.

A wide range of restaurants, bars, cafés and traditional inns complement the extensive selection of galleries and specialist shops.

Excellent transport links mean that London is easily accessible by train or road and flights of just over one hour from Newquay mean that the North of England can be quickly and easily reached. Penzance, which is just 15 minutes drive away, offers helicopter and sea links to the Isle of Scilly.
